These works are a reflection on the perception of spaces against the background of our mobile society. Spaces in the sense of intermediate space, in which we move and in which we spend more and more time.
The center of focus here is the human being of the 21st century, the homo mobilis and his environment. He embodies the modern individual, who in today’s society is confronted with an increasing expectation of mobility and flexibility, as described by Richard Sennett in The Flexible Man.
A life that demands constant mobility, in which we constantly have to reinvent and redefine ourselves. Restlessness and disquiet arise,
in which the pressure on the individual increases and the concept of time takes on a new dimension. Faster and faster, more and more.
Continuum, Transit, Restless and Floating are a reflection of space and time. In-between spaces on a physical and psychic level,
spaces of our postmodern age in which the individual has the opportunity to rediscover himself.
The in-between space is this place where we perceive the pulsation, the rhythm of our self. A place of inner contemplation, a place of idleness.
Many of these works have autobiographical traits. Transit, for example, was created on my travels from my home in Germany to my home
in Romania, Kontinuum on my journeys within Germany.
The “Restless” series, depicts the mental state of restlessness and disorientation. A search in the midst of the transition
from analog to digital, from one sphere to another.
