Traditionally, darkness, as a void, is associated with the exposure and reveal the fragility of the human body. With the works created, I offer darkness as a “comfort zone”, a space for contemplation. Starting off with morphed objects (The Originality of A Moment), I continued with the human portrait (Ginnungagap/Yawning Void). Here, the viewer does not know if the portrayed are torn in pain or relief. I created pieces of a more and more meditative character, by first, adding the cycle of a lunar year to this series. From here, I explored the archaic nature and simplicity of the human body based on the execution of simplest physical movements of the spine (Lebenslinien/Lifelines) and the joints (Homo Mobilis), all essential basics for our “functionality”. Simultaneously, I worked with the space that surrounds us with the same minimalism. Following the notion of movement as energy I explore the “outside” world based on this aspect, searching for visual artifacts that symbolize light and energy. We are connected to nature by the energy of the sun, mirrored in the moon light, while we produce artificial energy, visualized by landlines and cables, for production, connection and communication. This interconnectedness is visualized in Interdependence.
