Arcadian Messages in the Public Space
12 artists – 12 billboards in Bavaria

With Klaus Staeck, Frenzy Höhne (Leipzig), Susanne Bosch (Berlin), Manaf Halbouni (Berlin, Dresden & Zagreb), Andy Webster & Derek Tyman (Stockport), Hans Winkler (Rott a.I. & Berlin), Peter Kees (Steinhöring b. München), Timm Ulrichs (Hannover), Mads Lynnerup (San Francisco), Elisabeth Ajtay (New York), Ottjörg A .C .(Sofia), Das Peng! Kollektiv.
Exhibition sites: Public billboards in Munich Erlangen, Lindau, Ingolstadt, Starnberg, Rosenheim, Nürnberg, Furth im Wald, Passau, Ottobrunn, Bayerisch Gmain.

Das large scale billboard by Elisabeth Ajtay „Radikale Offenheit“ will be on view from 10/21 – 10/31 2022 at Spitalhofstr 39/Bernhard-Setzer-Str, 94032 Passau.

12 internationally renowned artists were invited by Arcadia’s ambassador, S.E. Peter Kees, to create an arcadian message on public billboards across Bavaria.

Arcadia is understood as a platform for negotiating the burning issues of the present.
The idealized Greek landscape is the inspiration for this project because it depicts the longing for an ideal world par excellence. It is no coincidence that the topos repeatedly comes into the focus of artists, writers and philosophers, as it expresses the age-old desire for a perfect existence in this world, which has never really existed in human history, but which is sought all the more is imagined, projected and symbolized. Especially in times of upheaval and crisis, the search for such a state was and is always important.
